Chief William R. Ward III
Chief William Ward has over 10 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career with the Atlanta Police Department in Atlanta, GA where he attended a 28 week training academy to receive his Georgia post law enforcement certification. While with Atlanta Police he was awarded officer of the week for the apprehension of four burglars in one shift. He was awarded officer of the week for a second time for the apprehension of a suspect in possession of several pounds of suspected marijuana.
Chief Ward transferred to Indianapolis, Indiana where he received his Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Certification and was employed with the MSD Pike Township School Police. He handled investigations ranging from theft to battery. He was the lead investigator on cases where he investigated and located several missing children. Chief Ward also worked as a part time police officer for the Town of William's Creek Police Department and served as a patrol officer.
Following his years in Indiana, Chief Ward returned to Georgia and is currently a police officer with the DeKalb County Police Department where he serves as a patrol officer. While with the Dekalb County Police, Chief Ward is employed with the Special Task Force Protection Agency as the Deputy Chief, where he handles the day to day operations including; hiring, training, and the procurement of new contracts.
Education is a very important aspect of Chief Wards life, he has an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Phoenix.
